The Science Symposium was held on 15th Sep in National Council for Cement and Building Materials in Gachibowli and was attended by hundreds of school students across different schools including Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Jubilee Hills, Jubilee Hills Public School, Madinaguda ZPHS, Rao's Techno school, Janapriya School, Sister Nivedita School, NASR school, Obul Reddy Public school etc.
The excitement started long back. Aindrila Di started contacting the schools, Beda planned for the events, Paromita planned for the quiz, Sujoy and Mainak planned for the logistics, Sayon and Aritra da for photography, Sushmita and other ladies for the reception. All activities were meticulously planned under the able guidance of JU seniors. Tiffin was brought in from ISKCON. The banners were set up, registration was done, posters were displayed. Aniruddha da, our president committed the funds.
The Inauguration took place at 8.45 AM. The Meet the Scientist program was the initial event where scientist Dr. Rama Mohan was the prime attraction. He spoke on topic Molecule to Medicine. The next event was an innovation workshop where examples of various grass root level innovations were shown through video clips. Students wrote teir innovative ideas for Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE national competition organized by NIF India. Mr. Praveen, employee of IBM and associated with astronomical societies in Hyderabad brought a large telescope with which he showed the sun to the students and teachers. Dr. Amal Chakrabarty, scientist and a JU Alumni, spoke on Quantum Mechanics and contribution of Dr. Satyen Bose. Pratiksha, a 2nd year MBBS student and daughter of Aritra da and Soma di, conducted a small workshop on the different videos available for teaching science topics in youtube which was well appreciated. After lunch break the quiz was conducted by Dr. Paromita Palit of ICRISAT. The event was closed with prize distribution and National Anthem.
