Trip to Adilabad - Kadam Dam and Kuntala Falls

The recently completed trip to Adilabad included a visit to Jeeyar Gurukumal school for tribal children in the village of Allampalli, a memorable stay in Haritha Kadam resort near kadem dam and on the bank of the Kadam river and a visit to Kuntala falls by a group of JU Hyderabadis from 27th to 28th Aug. The trip was undertaken by road using a Telengana tourism bus for a family of eighteen members. The journey started at 7 AM from Miyapur and we reached Kadam at around 12.30 PM. En route there was a stop over for about 30 min for having tea. The weather was nice, the road (NH 44) is beautiful to travel.

It was an action packed day as at around 1.30 PM we went to visit Jeer Gurukulam in Allampalli village, which is about 30-40 kms from Kadam, located inside the dense forests of Kawal tiger reserve. The last 10-15 kms was through a forest track with lots of teak woods around. Even tribal homes are made of teak woods, being abundantly available. Jeer Gurukulam is a unique traditional school inspired by Chinna Jeeyar Swami, a spiritual master whose philosophy is to serve the God in all beings. This was one of the earliest school for local tribal children who had no access to education. Now the school proudly boasts of a decent infrastructure and about 7 batches of students have successfully passed out with very high scores in final exams. The school gave us a very decent welcome through a cultural programme by the students and a yoga session, followed by a snacks. Our attempts to fly a sky lantern using hot air was unsuccessful.

The next day saw us having a boat trip on Kadam dam, followed by a post lunch trip to Kuntala falls, enjoying the scenic beauty and the panoramic views. While returning we saw a beautiful rainbow.
